Volunteers are a vital part of the
4-H Program. Adult Volunteers provide guidance at 4-H functions and share knowledge
with the 4-H youth. Volunteers are always welcome to any and all 4-H events,
learning opportunities are not limited to 4-H youth alone.
Organizational Leaders are responsible for a specific club. They schedule the
club meetings, find a space for the club to meet, and make certain that
information about opportunities and events reaches the club.
Co-Organizational Leaders are club leaders sharing the responsibilities of running a
4-H club, dividing duties and time.
Project Leaders are responsible for running a specific project that the
club is conducting.
Fairfax County 4-H Volunteer
and Leaders' Association - The County 4-H
Volunteer and Leaders' Association meets three times a year to exchange ideas
and receive first hand information and training from Extension staff and
resource people. The major goals of the Association are leader training,
support to 4-H Council planning committees and recognition. Numerous other
leader training opportunities and conferences exist on the district, state, and
national level, such as district Volunteer-In-Service, State Leaders'
Conference and Southern Region Leaders' Forum.
County 4-H Association - The Fairfax County 4-H Association provides guidance,
direction and support to the overall County Extension 4-H Youth Program and is
comprised of approximately 15 adults and teens. The Association makes an effort
to expand and review 4-H membership, participates in planning, development and
evaluation of programs and identifies resources for the County 4-H program. The
4-H Ambassador/Expansion Team works under the auspices of the 4-H Association.
The Association meets bimonthly on the first Monday evening.
